Kevin Grogan, CFA
Director of Investment Strategy
By reading and analyzing the latest research in investments and finance, Kevin Grogan, director of investment strategy for Buckingham Strategic Wealth, is able to draw practical applications and apply his findings to help clients improve the structure of their portfolios and achieve their goals.
Kevin Grogan’s journey to Buckingham began with some career advice from a pioneer in the world of passive investing. When Kevin was an MBA student at Saint Louis University, Rex Sinquefield, SLU alumnus and co-founder of Dimensional Fund Advisors, gave a speech to the business school on the practical nature of passive investing. Up until then, this approach was just another theory in Kevin’s investment philosophy class. Later that year, a Wall Street Journal article by Jonathan Clements caught Kevin’s attention. A quote from financial author Larry Swedroe prompted Kevin to email Larry about Buckingham. He joined the firm in 2007.
Kevin has co-authored two books. In April of 2014, he and Larry Swedroe released “Reducing the Risk of Black Swans: Using the Science of Investing to Capture Returns with Less Volatility.” His first book was “The Only Guide You’ll Ever Need for the Right Financial Plan,” co-authored with Larry Swedroe and Tiya Lim. T his step-by-step handbook focuses on the art of investing by providing investors with information they can use to build a tailor-made investment strategy. He also co-authored the article “The Maturity of Fixed-Income Assets and Portfolio Risk” with Swedroe, which appeared in the Winter 2009 issue of The Journal of Investing.
Kevin holds an MBA from Saint Louis University and a bachelor’s of science in finance from Missouri State University in Springfield.
